Coton and Mayorov shine in September

Flavien Coton in the top four of a senior feeder tournament. Ladimir Mayorov twice winner in a youth contender. Alexander Malov finalist plus three times top 4 in U15 and U13. Team compass members continue to produce impressive results internationally.

Thailand and Montenegro. Bulgaria and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The first half of September was packed in the World Table Tennis calendar. And the talents supported by compass were there. Frenchman Flavien Coton, born in 2008, put in an impressive performance at the WTT Feeder in Panagyurishte, Bulgaria. Coton defeated Jin Ueda of Japan, Bastien Rembert of France and Kay Stumper of Germany all in straight games before losing 0:3 to China’s Zeng Beixun in the semi-finals. The Dane Anders Lind won the event after beating Zeng in the final.

Mayorov wins two titles

In Podgorica, Montenegro, Ladimir Mayorov, born in 2013, managed to win two singles titles, in U15 and U13, although he is still U11. In U15, “Ladi” lost only one game from the quarter-finals onwards, and that was in the final against his compatriot and fellow compass supported player Alexander Malov – 11:8, 9:11, 11:7, 11:8.

In the U13 category, Mayorov was completely dominant and did not give away more than seven points against Dimitar Dimitrov from England in the semi-finals and David Toro from Romania in the final.

Alexander Malov, born in 2012, lost to Toro in his semi-final. Malov also reached the last eight in the U15 mixed doubles with Durija Vlakovic of the host nation.

Two last-four finishes for Malov

In Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, “Sasha” Malov defeated Germany’s Jonas Rinderer to book his place in the U15 semi-finals. There he lost in straight games to the eventual finalist Liao Yu-Qi from Chinese Taipei.  In the U13 category, he defeated Dimitar Dimitrov in the last eight before losing 3:1 to David Toro, the same man “Sasha” had lost to in Podgorica in the U13 category.

Otalvaro competitive in U17 category

Emanuel Otalvaro, born in 2010, went a bit further on the tour. In Bangkok, Thailand, he defeated Chiu Li-Chen from Chinese Taipei 11:8 in the decider of the U17 quarter-finals.  In the semi-finals he lost to Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Hsien-Chia 10:12 in the decider. He then lost to Choi Jiwook of Korea Republic in the final.

In the U15 category, Emanuel made it to the last 16 where he was beaten in straight games by Huang Pei-You of Chinese Taipei.
