Danilo spent a whole week in Tunis. First, he took part in the Youth Contender event, where he played in the U19 and U17 categories, reaching the last 32 (losing to Frenchman Antoine Noirault) and the quarter-finals (losing to Austrian Julian Rzihauschek) respectively.

The Star Contender followed and here Danilo worked his way to a jackpot – gold in U15 singles, doubles (with compatriot Francesco Trevisan) and mixed (with German Josi Neumann).

In the singles, Danilo defeated Alexander Malov of Spain in straight games in his first match of the knockout stage. He then defeated Jan Mrugala of Poland and Swedish defender Albin Ingestrom, both 3:1.

“That was the toughest match for me. Albin is a strong defender who I have never faced before.”

In the final, Danilo faced his doubles partner Francesco Trevisan and won comfortably – 11:4, 11:5, 12:10.

“Francesco is a dear friend of mine and we have played against each other so many times. I am happy that I could beat him this time.”

In the doubles, Danilo and Francesco were never threatened. The world’s top-ranked team won 3:1 against the pair of Malov and Nolan Johnston (France). They then beat the English duo of Abraham Sellado and Kacper Piwowar 3:0 and finally beat Jacob Huang/Amir Essid (Australia/Tunisia) 3:0 in the final – 11:8, 11:8, 11:7.

The semi-final was a more comfortable 3:1 win over the Austrian-Italian duo of Mariia Lytvyn/Giulio Campagna. And in the final, the numbers were even clearer – 11:9, 11:6, 12:10 against the Malaysian/Tunisian pairing of Dania Mohd and Amir Essid.
