Eight compass supported talents play at the World Championships
The World Youth Championship has been held since 2003. From 22 to 29 November it is time again. The venue is Helsingborg, Sweden. Eight compass supported players have qualified for the tournament.
The first World Junior Championships were held in 2003. China has dominated the medals table with 250 (!) medals over the years. Second best is Japan with 118. The best European countries have been Germany with 29 medals and France with 28.5.
128 players in four singles events
In Helsingborg, Sweden, some of the best U19 players such as Felix Lebrun and Miwa Harimoto will unfortunately be absent. Nevertheless, the field will be strong and the competition will be exciting to watch.
Compass has seven players among the 128 players competing in the four singles events. In the U19 category, there is German Annett Kaufmann, who has transferred to the ACE (Athlete Centered Ecosystem) project after eight years with compass. Annett is ranked in the top 8 in singles and second in doubles with Anna Hursey from Wales.
Several medal chances for Flavien
Flavien Coton will represent France in all four events – singles, doubles, mixed doubles and teams. He is seeded third in singles and third in mixed with ACE player and compatriot Charlotte Lutz. His France team is seeded fourth in the team competition.
The highest seed among the current compass players is Puerto Rican Steven Moreno, who is seeded second in the U15 doubles with compatriot Enrique Rios. Third are Danilo Faso and Emanuel Otalvaro, an all-compass team, and Germany’s Josephina Neumann, who plays with compatriot Koharu Itagaki.

Another compass-only team will be in the U15 mixed category, where Josi Neumann and Steven Moreno will make an interesting start.
