Winner in mixed doubles
The biggest success came in the U15 mixed doubles event, where Ladimir teamed up with fellow Spaniard Renata Shypsha. The Spanish pair turned out to be the surprise of the tournament, defeating Wisniewski/Pulecka of Poland 3:0 in the quarterfinals, overcoming Min Ming/Lu Aimi of China 3:1 in the semifinals, and finally triumphing over Zhou Kaien/Zhou Yufei with another 3:1 victory in the final.
Beating two Chinese mixed doubles teams in a single tournament is a remarkable achievement – especially with Ladimir being the youngest player at the table.
“It was an exciting experience, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to play against Asian teams, as they rarely compete in Europe.”
In the U15 girls’ singles, Siri Benjegård received a bye in the first round of the knockout stage, but was later defeated 3:0 by Lu Aimi of China, who went on to reach the final.
